The Story
Cindy’s Rusty Nail is a quiet little bar located in Palmerton, PA. It is a well-known local hangout. In fact, it is rare to meet someone in town who is not familiar with the Nail’s tragic story of Mr. Boots and how he came to kill himself. Mr. Boots was a previous owner of this popular attraction. He was a kind and dedicated man, not only to his pub, but to his deceitful wife as well. One day Mr. Boots learned that his wife was having an affair. Not knowing how to handle this upset, he did the only thing he felt there was left to do: kill himself. So, one night after he bowled a perfect game, he returned to his well-established bar, went up to bedroom 1 on the second floor, and put a gun to his head.
The ClaimsCindy, who is now the owner of Cindy’s Rusty Nail, warmly welcomed City Lights Paranormal Society to conduct an investigation on their assumption that Mr. Boots hasn’t fully left the building. In the years of her stay at the bar, Cindy has encountered many unexplainable things. Everything from footsteps, voices, shadows, doors closing, and lights manipulating themselves have been reported. We were told of pool sticks, fire extinguishers, and phones flying off walls. Patrons have reported seeing a man walk into the bathrooms on numerous occasions. Bob, Cindy’s husband, told of a time he saw a man sitting at one of the tables, looking out at the bar, only to see him disappear moments later. The switch-operated Christmas lights on the bar were also a hot topic. Cindy could remember closing up at night, shutting all the electric off, only to return in the morning to find the Christmas lights on. These experiences, along with many more, definitely got everyone’s attention at CLPS.

The InvestigationCity Lights Paranormal Society arrived on April 27, 2010, to call out Mr. Boots. The building was bigger than expected, having three floors, an attic, and a basement. Olivia, Kathy, Ed, and Joe were the four investigators on the case that evening. We divided into two teams: Team 1 consisted of Olivia and Kathy, accompanied by Cindy, while Team 2 consisted of Ed and Joe. We each covered every area of the building extensively that evening, and enjoyed some odd experiences. While we found it hard to recreate all the claims, Team 1 felt as though they were being followed most of the evening. In the attic, Team 1 was receiving some strange K2 hits, as well as having the ceiling fan chain swing on its own without any breeze in the room. During their investigation in the bar, all three ladies swore to see a fourth figure standing in the room with them. Team 2’s investigation was quiet for the most part, except for two minutes of outstanding results. While trying to determine what was up with the Christmas lights, the guys decided to try to entice some interaction. On five separate occasions, they asked someone to turn the lights on, and, directly following the request, the lights turned on! Overall, the investigation left us all eager to see what our evidence would yield.

Evidence
The Debriefing
An outstanding experience investigating Cindy’s Rusty Nail turned into a rewarding review as well. We simply could not dispute the fact that Cindy’s was haunted after gathering our conclusive evidence. We had a night shot camera running at the time the Christmas lights turned themselves on. This alone was proof enough for us, but, beyond the light show, we gathered a small handful of impressive EVPs as well. We went in to determine if Mr. Boots still resided at the Nail. While we have to say that this is probable, we are left to wonder: Who is the female we heard on several occasions? In the future, we look forward to revisiting Cindy’s Rusty Nail to further prove its haunted story.
